Automatic first down. Interestingly enough, Brian Billick, commentating on the game, says that Saints fans will not be happy with that, as Freeman was heading out of bounds behind the LOS, and there was nothing to be gained by the horsecollar. In light of everything we know now, maybe there was something to be gained by the horsecollar - in the form of a bounty? Just speculating. The defender in question was Alex Brown. Brown doesn't play anymore, but would be interesting to know if he's on the list of players who get suspended over the bounty program? I don't think he's officially retired yet, just a free agent no-one signed last season, in which case he would still be punished. Hmm. Anyway, back to the game.
